Venky’s Avian Reo Virus Vaccine is designed for the immunization of breeder chickens against Avian Reovirus (ARV) infections.

INDICATIONS

  • Viral Arthritis/Tenosynovitis.
  • Malabsorption Syndrome (Runting-Stunting Syndrome).
  • Booster Vaccination: Recommended for priming breeders (typically around 16–20 weeks of age) to boost immunity.
  • Protection of Progeny: Ensures that progeny born during the laying period have sufficient maternal antibodies to protect them from Reo virus infections.
  • Reduction of Clinical Signs: Reduces mortality, viral arthritis, tenosynovitis, and other signs of disease caused by avian reoviruses in the offspring.
  • Optimal Timing: It should be given at least 4 weeks before the onset of lay, ideally following a priming dose of live Reo vaccine.

ADMINISTRATION

  • Routes of Injection:
    • Subcutaneous (SC): Injected into the lower part of the neck.
    • Intramuscular (IM): Injected into the thigh muscle or the breast/chest muscle.
  • Dosage: The standard dose is 0.5 ml per bird.
  • Timing: It is usually administered to birds between 16 and 22 weeks of age, at least 4 weeks before the expected onset of lay.
  • Priming: For optimal effectiveness, birds should be primed with a live reovirus vaccine several weeks (typically 4–6 weeks) before receiving the inactivated booster.
  • Preparation: Shake the bottle well before use and at regular intervals during the vaccination process.
