SELOVIN LA Injection

SELOVIN LA is a long-acting selenium supplement used for the treatment and long-term prevention of selenium deficiency in cattle and sheep. Contains Barium Selenate, which provides a sustained, slow-release of selenium into the animal's system.

Selenium is indicated for the prevention and treatment of selenium-tocopherol deficiency (STD) syndrome in livestock.

INDICATIONS

  • White Muscle Disease (Nutritional Muscular Dystrophy): A condition affecting skeletal and heart muscles, which can cause lameness and sudden death in young stock like lambs and calves.
  • Ill thrift: Poor growth rates and general unhealthiness in lambs and calves.
  • Lowered or poor fertility: Selenium is necessary for normal reproductive function in both male and female animals.
  • Reduced production: This includes lowered milk production and reduced wool growth in deficient animals.
  • Poor immunity: Inadequate selenium levels can compromise the immune system, leading to increased susceptibility to disease.

ADMINISTRATION

    • Route: The injection is administered by subcutaneous injection only.
    • Site: The recommended injection site is high on the neck, behind the ear.
    • Technique: The skin should be raised into a “tent,” and the needle inserted parallel to the body to ensure it goes under the skin, not into the muscle.
    • Dosage: The typical dose is 1 mL per 50 kg body weight (equivalent to 1 mg of selenium per kg). The exact frequency and dose should be determined by a veterinarian based on the severity of the deficiency and the animal’s selenium status.
