MSD's Prestige Tetanus Toxoid vaccine is used to protect healthy animals, including horses, cattle, swine, and sheep, from tetanus, a serious bacterial disease. Tetanus, or lockjaw, is a potentially fatal bacterial disease caused by the neurotoxin produced by Clostridium tetani bacteria, which can cause painful muscle contractions
MSD Prestige Tetanus Toxoid vaccine is indicated for horses, cattle, swine, and sheep, to protect against the tetanus disease.
INDICATIONS
Primary Vaccination: For initial immunization, a two-dose series is administered, with the second dose given 3-4 weeks after the first.
Annual Revaccination: Annual booster shots are a common practice and generally recommended to maintain protection. The American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) considers it a core vaccination for all horses yearly.
At the Time of Injury or Surgery: A booster dose is indicated for any vaccinated animal that sustains a deep wound, puncture, or undergoes surgery, regardless of the time elapsed since the last annual booster. This helps to rapidly increase antibody production.
Pregnant Mares: It is safe for use in pregnant mares and is often administered as a single dose during the third trimester of pregnancy (4 to 6 weeks before foaling). This transfers passive immunity to the foal through the colostrum.
ADMINISTRATION
Dosage and Schedule
Horses, Cattle, and Swine: Administer a 1 mL dose.

Second dose: Repeat with a single dose 3 to 4 weeks after the first.
Revaccination: Historically, an annual booster has been recommended, though the specific need for annual revaccination for this product has not been strictly established; consult a veterinarian for the best frequency for your animal.
Administration Instructions
