Indian Immunologicals Raksha-Goat Pox vaccine is a live attenuated, vaccine, used for the prophylactic vaccination of healthy goats.

INDICTIONS

  • Prophylaxis: Active immunization against the Goat Pox virus to prevent outbreaks and reduce morbidity and mortality.
  • Population Control: Recommended for goats in regions where the disease is endemic (Asia, Africa, and the Middle East). 
Target Animals & Timing
  • Target Species: Healthy goats of all ages, breeds, and sexes.
  • Young Stock (Kids): Primary vaccination is recommended at 3 to 4 months of age.
  • Adults: Revaccination should be conducted annually to maintain immunity.
  • Ideal Timing: Vaccination is best performed before the breeding season or after the kidding season. 

ADMINISTRATION

  • Preparation: Keep the vaccine cold (2-8°C) and well-shaken before use; use a sterile 1ml syringe and needle.
  • Site Selection: Choose a spot with clean, dry skin, often the dewlap or behind the shoulder.
  • Injection: Lift the loose skin and inject the 1ml dose under the skin.
  • Hygiene: Ensure all equipment is sterilized and take precautions to prevent contamination.
  • Animal Health: Only vaccinate healthy animals.
