Glaesserella parasuis vaccine is indicated for healthy pigs as a preventive aid against Glässer’s Disease (GPS).
INDICATIONS
- Active Immunization (Pigs): To protect growing pigs against clinical signs, lesions (like polyserositis), and death from H. parasuis infection.
- Passive Immunization (Piglets): To reduce clinical signs and mortality in piglets born to vaccinated sows.
- Disease Prevention: Aims to prevent Glässer’s disease, also known as transport disease, which affects pigs and sows.
ADMINISTRATION
- Route: Intramuscular injection (IM) in the neck muscle.
- Dose: 2 mL per pig.
- Preparation: Shake the vial well before use and allow it to reach ambient temperature.
- Pigs receive two doses two weeks apart.
- Sows receive two doses during pregnancy, with a booster in later pregnancies.
Vaccination is particularly useful in herds with low antibody levels against H. parasuis serotype 5 and a high risk of disease
