OCU-GUARD MB-1 Vaccine 

Boehringer's OCU-GUARD MB-1 vaccine is effective for the vaccination of healthy cattle two months of age or older against pinkeye (bovine keratoconjunctivitis). A WVA Veterinary Medicine.

Boehringer’s OCU-GUARD MB-1 vaccine is used to control pinkeye (infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis), caused by M. bovis.

INDICATIONS

  • Prevention of Pinkeye (IBK): Uses to protect cattle from the clinical signs of pinkeye, like corneal opacity, ulcers, tearing, and redness.
  • Herds with History of Pinkeye: Recommended for herds experiencing recurrent pinkeye outbreaks.
  • Age: For healthy cattle, typically starting from 2 months (8 weeks) or 3 months of age.
  • Specific Strains: Vaccines often contain multiple M. bovis isolates to broaden protection. 

ADMINISTRATION

  • Dosage: A single 2 mL dose is administered per animal.
  • Method: The vaccine is to be injected subcutaneously (under the skin).
  • Timing: It should be given prior to the expected onset of the pinkeye season.
  • Age: The vaccine is safe for use in cattle 2 months of age or older.
  • Revaccination: A 2 mL booster dose is recommended annually before pinkeye season to maintain immunity.
  • Adverse Reactions: Anaphylactoid (allergic) reactions may occur. Epinephrine is the antidote.
