    In Pigs/Piglets
    • Bacterial Enteritis (Scours): Indicated for the treatment and control of enteric colibacillosis (white scours) in pigs under four weeks of age, caused by Escherichia coli susceptible to spectinomycin.
    In Calves
    • Enteric and Respiratory Infections: Used for the treatment of enteric infections and respiratory disease caused by organisms sensitive to spectinomycin, such as E. coli, Pasteurella spp., and Mycoplasma spp..

ADMINISTRATION

  • Oral Administration is Key: The product is designed for oral intake because spectinomycin is poorly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, concentrating its effect in the enteric system to treat bacterial enteritis (e.g., E. coli).
  • Sole Source of Water: Medicated water should be the only source of drinking water available to the animals during the treatment period to ensure they consume the full, correct dose.
  • Preparation: The solution must be prepared daily with fresh water just before use. Any unconsumed medicated water should be discarded after 24 hours.
  • Mixing Methods:
    • Directly in Header Tank: The product can be mixed directly into the water header tanks.
    • Proportioner System: It can also be introduced via a water proportioner pump, after dissolving the required amount in a stock solution first.
  • Dosage Calculation: The exact daily concentration needs to be calculated based on the animals’ body weight and their estimated daily water consumption to ensure accurate dosing and prevent underdosing.
