ADMINISTRATION
- Direct Oral Delivery: The tablet can be placed manually on the back of the animal’s tongue. Hold the mouth closed until you are certain the entire dose has been swallowed.
- Disguised in Food: May be hidden in a small amount of strongly flavored food or treats to ensure voluntary intake.
- Water Dispersion: For some livestock or specific formulations, tablets can be crushed and dispersed in water.
Precautions
- Hydration: Ensuring the animal has consistent and readily available fresh drinking water is crucial to help prevent the formation of drug crystals in the kidneys, known as crystalluria.
- Missed Doses: If a dose is missed, it should be given as soon as possible. However, if the time until the next scheduled dose is less than a certain number of hours, the missed dose should be skipped.
- Allergies: Individuals with known allergies to sulfa drugs should use gloves when handling this medication to prevent skin contact.
