Lincomycin & Neomycin is an intramammary solution used for treating mastitis in lactating dairy cows

INDICATIONS

  • Gram-positive bacteria: Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus agalactiae, Streptococcus dysgalactiae, and Streptococcus uberis.
  • Gram-negative bacteria: Coliform bacteria such as Escherichia coli (E. coli).
  • Resistant Staph: Penicillinase-producing staphylococci.
  • Common mastitis-causing organisms: S. aureus, S. agalactiae, S. dysgalactiae, S. uberis, and E. coli.

ADMINISTRATION

Preparation

  • Completely milk out the affected quarter.
  • Wash the teat or the entire udder thoroughly with warm water and a suitable dairy disinfectant, then dry it completely.
  • Wear clean, disposable gloves.

Disinfection

  • Disinfect the end of the teat (teat orifice) using an alcohol-soaked pad or wipe (usually provided with the product).
  • Use a new disinfectant pad for each teat to prevent cross-contamination.

Infusion

  • Hold applicator with the cannula (tip) pointing upward and carefully remove the protective cap without touching the exposed tip.
  • Choose the desired insertion method (full or partial insertion of the cannula into the teat canal).
  • Gently insert the cannula tip into the teat canal and push the plunger to infuse the entire contents of the syringe into the quarter. The entire syringe content should be used for one dose.
  • Immediately after administration, it is recommended to gently massage the teat, moving from the tip of the teat upwards towards the milk cistern to help distribute the medication.

Post-Infusion Care

  • Following the infusion, it is advisable to dip all teats in an approved teat dip.
  • The single-use syringe must be discarded after use.
  • Wash hands thoroughly after the procedure.

Dose

For each affected quarter, the content of one applicator (330 mg lincomycin and 100,000 IU neomycin sulfate) is administered. This dose is repeated at 12-hour intervals for a total of three doses per affected quarter.
