Kemin MEVAC Sheep Pox vaccine is designed to protect both sheep and goats against the Sheep Pox virus. It's a live attenuated vaccine using a Romanian strain of the virus. Provides protection for at least 3 years after immunity develops - around 3 weeks post-vaccination.

Kemin MEVAC Sheep Pox vaccine is designed to protect sheep and goats against the Sheep Pox virus, which causes both sheep pox and goat pox.

INDICATIONS

  • Target Animals: The vaccine is intended for use in both sheep and goats.
  • Minimum Age: Animals can be vaccinated from 3 months of age onwards.
  • Immunity: Onset of immunity occurs approximately 3 weeks after vaccination and typically lasts for at least 3 years.
  • Booster Schedule: Annual re-vaccination may be recommended depending on the specific epidemiological situation of a given area. 

ADMINISTRATION

  • Reconstitution: Gently shake the vaccine vial and reconstitute with the provided sterile diluent (2-3 mL).
  • Resuspension: Shake well until fully mixed, then transfer back to the diluent container and mix again.
  • Preparation: Use sterile, single-use syringes and needles (e.g., 16-gauge, ½ inch).
  • Injection Site: Subcutaneous injection in the side of the neck, avoiding the loin or hindquarters.
  • Technique: Inject just under the skin, away from the head, keeping the needle straight.
  • Handling: Keep the reconstituted vaccine cool (ice bath) and protected from light and high temperatures; use the entire contents once opened.
