INDICATIONS

• Blastomyces (Blastomycosis)
• Histoplasma (Histoplasmosis)
• Coccidioides (Valley Fever/Coccidioidomycosis)
• Cryptococcus (Cryptococcosis)
• Candida (Candidiasis)
• Sporothrix (Sporotrichosis)
• Pythiosis and Zygomycosis (less common mold infections) 

ADMINISTRATION

• Intravenous (IV) Infusion: This is the most common route for systemic infections.
  • The medication is diluted in 5% dextrose solution (not saline, which causes precipitation).
  • It is typically infused slowly over a period of 2 to 6 hours, often every 48 hours (every other day).
  • The animal is often pre-treated with intravenous fluids to help protect the kidneys from damage.
• Other Routes:
  • Subcutaneous (SC) Injection: A protocol involving large volumes of diluted amphotericin B administered subcutaneously (subq) has been described as an alternative method to decrease the risk of kidney toxicity while still achieving systemic effects.
  • Intralesional (IL) Injection: For localized skin lesions, particularly in cases of feline sporotrichosis that are resistant to oral medication, the drug may be injected directly into the lesion in concert with oral antifungal therapy.
  • Topical/Local: Ophthalmic preparations are used to treat fungal eye infections, and regional limb perfusion has been described for specific infections like pythiosis in horses. 

DOSAGE

• In Drinking Water: Add 1 ml of Amphotericin-B per liter (33.8 fl oz) of water, or 2 ml per 3.5 oz of feed for 20 consecutive days.
• Oral Dosage: Administer 0.01ml per 100g of body weight for precision treatment.
• Recommended Combination: For enhanced results, we recommend using Amphotericin-B alongside Kombi-Mix and Med. Tollyamin Forte, as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
