Calf Diarrhea vaccine is indicated for use in healthy, pregnant cows and heifers to stimulate antibodies, which are then passed to their calves through colostrum, providing passive immunity.
INDICATIONS
It’s a complete neonatal diarrhea (scours) vaccine, with a broad spectrum of antigens linked to four major bacterial and viral causes of scours in pre-weaned dairy calves, including:
• Rotavirus types G6 and G10
• Coronavirus types 1 and 3
• Clostridium perfringens types C & D
• E. coli type K99
ADMINISTRATION
- The vaccine is administered via subcutaneous injection.
- Initial Vaccination (Heifers and previously unvaccinated cows): A 2 mL primary dose is given three months prior to calving, followed by a second 2 mL booster injection three to six weeks after the initial dose.
- Annual Revaccination (Subsequent calvings): A single 2 mL booster dose is administered five to seven weeks before each subsequent calving.
- Colostrum Management is Vital: For the vaccine to be effective, the newborn calf must receive adequate colostrum within the first 12 hours of life to absorb these critical antibodies.
