PORCILIS Glasser Vaccine

MSD's PORCILIS Glasser vaccine is an inactivated bacterial vaccine used for the active immunization of pigs against Glässer's disease (haemophilus polyserositis) caused by Haemophilus parasuis serotype 5. It is also used in pregnant sows for the passive immunization of their offspring from 5 weeks of age.

Glaesserella parasuis vaccine is indicated for healthy pigs as a preventive aid against Glässer’s Disease (GPS).

INDICATIONS

  • Active Immunization (Pigs): To protect growing pigs against clinical signs, lesions (like polyserositis), and death from H. parasuis infection.
  • Passive Immunization (Piglets): To reduce clinical signs and mortality in piglets born to vaccinated sows.
  • Disease Prevention: Aims to prevent Glässer’s disease, also known as transport disease, which affects pigs and sows.

ADMINISTRATION

  • Route: Intramuscular injection (IM) in the neck muscle.
  • Dose: 2 mL per pig.
  • Preparation: Shake the vial well before use and allow it to reach ambient temperature.
  • Pigs receive two doses two weeks apart.
  • Sows receive two doses during pregnancy, with a booster in later pregnancies.
Vaccination is particularly useful in herds with low antibody levels against H. parasuis serotype 5 and a high risk of disease
