Halocur (halofuginone) is a veterinary medicine used to prevent or reduce diarrhea caused by Cryptosporidium parvum in newborn calves.
- Administered orally to newborn calves once a day for the first 7 days
- Used for prevention by starting treatment within the first 24 to 48 hours
- Also used to reduce diarrhea by starting treatment within 24 hours of onset
- Prevents the growth of C. parvum and limits the spread of the disease by preventing the formation of oocysts
