Nobivac Canine Flu Bivalent Vaccine

MSD Nobivac Canine Flu Bivalent vaccine protects healthy dogs against the H3N8 and H3N2 strains of Canine Influenza Virus (CIV), reducing the severity and spread of "dog flu," a contagious respiratory infection. It's an inactivated, killed-virus vaccine that requires a series of two shots, followed by annual boosters, that prevent coughing, nasal discharge, sneezing, lethargy, and difficulty breathing.

MSD Nobivac Canine Flu Bivalent (Influenza A vaccine) is indicated for the vaccination of healthy dogs against both main strains of canine influenza (H3N2 and H3N8).

INDICATIONS

  • Target: For healthy dogs 7 weeks of age and older.
  • Animals at risk: Dogs that interact with other dogs in places like boarding, daycare, grooming facilities, or dog parks.
  • Broad Protection: Protects against both prevalent H3N2 and H3N8 strains, offering 2-in-1 protection.
  • Controls Disease: Aids in controlling illness caused by CIV H3N2 and H3N8 viruses.
  • Reduces Symptoms: Lowers the incidence and severity of coughing, sneezing, nasal/ocular discharge, fever, and depression.
  • Prevents Lung Damage: Protects against severe lung lesions. 

ADMINISTRATION

  • Preparation: A veterinarian mixes the liquid and powder components (if applicable) and shakes well.
  • Injection Site: A fold of loose skin, often at the back of the neck or shoulder, is grasped.
  • Method: The vaccine (1 mL) is injected subcutaneously (into the soft tissue under the skin).
  • Needles: New, sterile needles and syringes are used. 
Vaccination Schedule
  • Initial Series: Two 1 mL doses, 2 to 4 weeks apart, for dogs 7 weeks or older.
  • Primary Protection: Dogs are protected about two weeks after the second dose.
  • Booster: Annual revaccination with one dose is recommended
