RVF Clone-13 Vaccine

OBP's RVF Clone-13 Vaccine is a live-attenuated vaccine used to protect domesticated ruminants (cattle, sheep, goats) from Rift Valley Fever, a severe mosquito-borne viral disease that causes abortions and illness in livestock.

Rift Valley Fever (RVF) vaccine is indicated for the active immunization of susceptible livestock to prevent clinical disease.

INDICATIONS

  • Prevention in At-Risk Areas: Vaccinating cattle, sheep, goats, and camels in regions prone to RVF, particularly before rainy seasons or floods when mosquito vectors proliferate.
  • Outbreak Control: Rapid vaccination in affected areas to curb transmission and reduce severe disease and deaths in young animals (lambs, kids, calves).
  • Protecting Pregnant Animals: Preventing widespread abortions and stillbirths, a hallmark of RVF in pregnant ruminants.
  • Minimize Zoonotic Risk: By controlling animal outbreaks, vaccination reduces human exposure, say from infected tissues or fluids.
  • Multispecies Protection: Effective protection across all susceptible species of economic importance.

ADMINISTRATION

  • Reconstitution: Mix the powdered vaccine with the provided sterile diluent.
  • Preparation: Allow it to reach room temperature (around 20-25°C) and keep it cool and out of sunlight.
  • Injection Site: Administer under the skin (subcutaneously) in a loose skin area.
  • Dosage:
    • Cattle & Buffalo: 2 mL per animal.
    • Sheep & Goats: 1 mL per animal.
  • Sterility: Use sterile needles and syringes for each injection.
  • Timing: Annual revaccination is common, ideally a month before expected rainy/mosquito seasons when outbreaks occur.
