ADMINISTRATION

  • Warming and Shaking: Warm the vial to room temperature and shake thoroughly before use to ensure a uniform suspension.
  • Sterilization: Use a sterile needle and syringe for each injection. Disinfect the vial’s rubber stopper with 70% alcohol before withdrawal.
  • Needle Selection: For livestock, use 16 to 18-gauge needles that are 1 to 1.5 inches long.
Injection Procedure
  • Site Selection: Inject into a fleshy, thick muscle, such as the neck, rump, hip, or thigh region.
  • Aspiration: After inserting the needle but before injecting, pull back the plunger slightly. If blood appears, you have hit a blood vessel; withdraw the needle and select a different site.
  • Slow Delivery: Inject the dose slowly and do not massage the site afterward.
  • Site Rotation: If multiple doses are required, rotate the injection site daily.
Dosage
  • General Dosage: For cattle, horses, and sheep, the typical rate is 1 mL per 25 kg (roughly 1 mL per 55 lbs) of body weight.
  • Maximum Volume per Site: To minimize tissue irritation, do not exceed the following volumes in a single location:
    • Horses: 15 mL
    • Cattle: 6–10 mL
    • Sheep: 3–5 mL
    • Pigs: 1.5 mL
