Diclazuril Premix Powder

Diclazuril Premix Powder is primarily used as an anticoccidial agent to treat and prevent coccidiosis in poultry (chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys), rabbits, sheep, and calves. used in horses to treat equine protozoal myeloencephalitis. An FAO/WHO Veterinary Medicine.

Diclazuril Premix Powder is used for the prevention and treatment of coccidiosis in chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, and rabbits.

INDICATIONS

  • Poultry (Chickens, Turkeys, Ducks, Geese, Quail): Used to prevent and control coccidiosis caused by various Eimeria species, including E. tenella, E. necatrix, E. acervulina, E. brunetti, E. mitis, E. maxima, E. meleagridis, and E. gallopavonis. It is highly effective against drug-resistant coccidia.
  • Rabbits: Indicated for the prevention of coccidiosis.
  • Horses: While often used in an oral suspension or pellet form rather than a premix powder, diclazuril is FDA-approved for the treatment of Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis (EPM) caused by the protozoan Sarcocystis neurona.
  • Other Animals (Off-label uses): Diclazuril may also be used in sheep and goats for Eimeria infections, and is effective against infections caused by Isospora spp. and Toxoplasma gondii in various animals, generally under the direction of a veterinarian. 

ADMINISTRATION

The premix is intended to be incorporated into animal feed. It is crucial to mix the product thoroughly with feed to ensure uniform distribution and efficacy, and it should be used immediately after mixing.
  • Mixed Feed: This is the standard method for poultry and rabbits. The concentration in the final feed is typically very low, often around 1 part per million (ppm) or 0.0001% diclazuril.
  • Poultry (Chickens, Turkeys): Used to control various Eimeria species. It is often fed as the sole ration from one day of age up until a few days before slaughter (withdrawal period).
  • Lambs and Calves: Used for the treatment and prevention of coccidial infections. Dosage is typically based on body weight (e.g., 1 mg/kg).
  • Horses: Used for the treatment of EPM caused by Sarcocystis neurona. The recommended dose for an FDA-approved formulation is 1 mg/kg of body weight daily for 28 consecutive days.
