Avian Influenza Virus Vaccine

VAXXITEK HVT+IBD+H5 vaccine is indicated for the active immunisation of chickens and turkeys to protect against Marek’s disease, Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD), and H5 subtype Avian Influenza (AI).

INDICATIONS

Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD): To prevent mortality and to reduce clinical signs and lesions caused by standard, variant, and very virulent IBD virus strains.
Marek’s Disease (MD): To reduce mortality, clinical signs, and lesions associated with Marek’s disease.
H5 Avian Influenza (AI): To reduce mortality, clinical signs, and virus excretion following infection with highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) virus of the H5 subtype, including the circulating clade 2.3.4.4b.

ADMINISTRATION

Subcutaneous Route (Day-old chickens): A single 0.2 mL dose is injected under the loose skin at the back of the neck using a sterile automatic syringe.
In Ovo Route (Embryonated eggs): A single 0.05 mL dose is injected into each embryonated egg at 18 days of embryonation using an automated egg injection system.

Key Preparation and Handling Instructions

Sterile Equipment All equipment (syringes, needles, diluent containers) must be sterilized by autoclaving or boiling water. Chemical disinfectants must not be used as they can inactivate the live vaccine virus.
Thawing The frozen vaccine ampules, which are stored in liquid nitrogen, must be thawed rapidly in water at 68° to 86°F (20° to 30°C).
Mixing Once thawed, the vaccine concentrate is mixed gently with the specific sterile diluent. Do not shake vigorously.
Timing The diluted vaccine mixture must be used immediately and all contents used up within one hour of mixing to ensure potency.
Safety Wear protective gloves and spectacles when handling the frozen ampules to prevent injury in case of breakage during thawing.
