ADMINISTRATION
Typically administered as an in-tank bath, mixed into the aquarium or pond water at specific concentrations
- Preparation: Perform a 20-25% water change and remove carbon filtration before adding the treatment.
- Dosage: Follow the product label, but a common rate is about 1 teaspoon (5 ml) per 10 gallons of water, creating a ~0.05 ppm malachite green concentration.
- Application: Mix the measured dose in a bucket of tank water, then pour it evenly into the aquarium or pond.
- Aeration: Ensure good aeration with an airstone, as the treatment can reduce oxygen.
- Duration: Treatments often last several days, with partial water changes (20-25%) before re-dosing.
- Post-Treatment: After the course, perform another significant water change and add dechlorinator/water conditioner.
Note: Malachite green is toxic to shrimp, snails, and other invertebrates, so remove them before treatment.
