INDICATIONS

• Target Species: Domestic pigs.
• Fattening Pigs: Current successful deployments focus on fattening pigs to mitigate production losses.
• Endemic Control: Used to reduce mortality and clinical severity in regions where ASFV field strains are actively circulating.
• Minimum Age: Generally indicated for pigs at least 8 to 10 weeks of age (approximately 2 months) who are free of ASFV antibodies. 

ADMINISTRATION

• Target Animals: The vaccine is for healthy meat-producing pigs aged 4 weeks or older. It is not recommended for use in breeding pigs (gilts, sows, and boars).
• Administration: The vaccine is given via intramuscular injection.
• Preparation and Dosage: The freeze-dried vaccine vial must be reconstituted with the entire accompanying diluent. A single dose is 2 ml after reconstitution.
• Timeline: Protective immunity develops about 2-4 weeks after the single vaccination dose and can last for up to 5 months.
• Precautions:
  • Administer only to healthy pigs.
  • Ensure all equipment used for preparation and injection is clean and sterile.
  • Use the reconstituted vaccine within 3 hours.
  • Do not use different types of live attenuated ASF vaccines on the same animal or within the same herd.
  • Vaccinated pigs may shed the virus, which requires careful monitoring and surveillance.
