Indian Immunologicals Bovine Ephemeral Fever vaccine is indicated for healthy cattle in BEF-endemic areas.
INDICATIONS
Preventing Clinical Signs: To stop sudden fever (up to 41-42°C), shivering, inappetence, drooling, nasal/eye discharge, muscle stiffness, and severe lameness.
Economic Protection: To avoid significant losses from decreased milk production, reduced fertility, potential abortions, and lowered market weights.
High-Risk Groups: Strongly recommended for bulls, stud cows, heavy-conditioned cattle, and valuable dairy herds.
Area-Specific: For cattle in regions where BEF is endemic or for those newly introduced from non-endemic areas.
ADMINISTRATION
Reconstitution: Mix the frozen (live virus) component with the liquid diluent/adjuvant just before use.
Injection Site: Inject under the skin (subcutaneous) in the neck area.
Needle Technique: Create a pocket under the skin by tenting the skin with your free hand or using the one-handed technique for proper placement, avoiding intramuscular injection.
Initial Vaccination:
Administer two doses, 2 to 4 weeks apart (or up to 6 months apart if needed).
Cattle should be at least 3-6 months old.
Booster: An annual booster shot (2mL) is recommended before the BEF season starts (often before summer/wet conditions).
Vaccinate Healthy Animals: Only give the vaccine to healthy cattle.
