Revalor-IS Implants

MSD's Revalor line of cattle implants are used to increase the rate of weight gain and improve feed efficiency. These implants contain a combination of the hormones Estradiol-17beta and trenbolone acetate. There are several Revalor products - Revalor-IS for feedlot steers, Revalor-H for feedlot heifers, and Revalor-XS for heifers. An FAO/WHO Veterinary Medicine.

Estradiol-17beta implants are indicated for increasing the rate of weight gain and improving feed efficiency in beef cattle.

INDICATIONS

  • Increased rate of weight gain and improved feed efficiency: Estradiol implants are widely used in the U.S., Australia, and Canada to enhance growth and lean meat content in cattle by stimulating the pituitary gland to produce more growth hormone.
  • Use in different production phases:
    • Calves: Products like Component E-C or Synovex C (progesterone and estradiol benzoate combination) are approved for beef calves 45 days of age or older.
    • Growing steers and heifers: Implants are used in growing beef cattle on pasture or in feedlots, typically those intended for slaughter and not for reproductive purposes.
    • Combination therapy: Estradiol is often combined with other hormones like progesterone or trenbolone acetate (TBA) in implants (e.g., Revalor) to maximize growth and efficiency benefits, particularly in the finishing phase in feedlots.

ADMINISTRATION

  • Each REVALOR-IS implant contains four pellets
  • Ten implants are provided in each cartridge of REVALOR-IS
  • Only one implant containing 80 mg of trenbolone acetate and 16 mg of estradiol should be administered to each steer
  • Application: It is a subcutaneous implant, meaning it is placed under the skin on the back of the ear of the animal.
  • Hormone blend: The active ingredients are trenbolone acetate and estradiol, which work together to achieve the desired growth effects.
  • Placement: The implant is administered under the skin of the ear, parallel to the cartilage, using a special implanting tool. The site is on the back of the ear, typically in the center of the middle third of the ear’s length.
