SAMARTH Neosporin Ophthalmic Ointment containing Gramicidin is used to treat superficial bacterial infections of the eye, such as conjunctivitis, keratitis, and blepharitis in dogs and other small animals. A WOAH Veterinary Medicine.

SAMARTH Neosporin Ophthalmic Ointment (containing gramicidin) is indicated for treating superficial bacterial eye infections in dogs, cats, and horses.

INDICATIONS

  • External Eye Infections: Treats bacterial conjunctivitis and keratitis (inflammation of the cornea).
  • Eyelid Infections: Used for treating blepharitis (infected eyelids).
  • Susceptible Bacteria: Effective against infections caused by bacteria susceptible to the triple-antibiotic combination.
  • Small Species: Used in cats, dogs, and small mammals like rabbits, hamsters, and guinea pigs (under veterinary guidance).

ADMINISTRATION

  • Preparation: Wash your hands thoroughly. If there is discharge, gently wipe the area around the eye with a warm, damp cloth.
  • Positioning: Stand behind the animal or have them sit/lie down to stabilize their head.
  • Application:
    1. Gently pull the lower eyelid down to create a small “pocket”.
    2. Squeeze a small amount of ointment into this pocket.
    3. Crucial: Do not let the tip of the tube touch the eye surface, eyelashes, or your fingers to avoid contamination.
  • Post-Application: Allow the animal to blink, which helps spread the medication across the eyeball. You may gently massage the closed eyelid to assist with dispersal.
