Nicarbazin Premix

Nicarbazin premix is used to prevent and control coccidiosis, a common parasitic intestinal disease in broiler and replacement chickens caused by Eimeria spp. Improves gut health, and prevents losses from the disease. An FAO/WHO Veterinary Medicine.

Nicarbazin Premix is indicated to prevent coccidiosis in chickens by inhibiting the growth of Eimeria parasites.

INDICATIONS

  • Broiler Chickens: Used as an aid in the prevention of outbreaks of both cecal and intestinal coccidiosis caused by Eimeria tenella, E. acervulina, E. maxima, E. necatrix, and E. brunetti.
  • Starter and Grower Feeds: Employed to prevent deaths due to coccidiosis in chickens up to 12 weeks of age.
  • Replacement Chickens: Used to aid in preventing death, specifically for birds 8 weeks of age or older.
  • Mild Exposure Protection: Specifically indicated as an aid in preventing deaths under conditions of mild exposure. 
  • Preventative Only: Not for use in treating active outbreaks of coccidiosis.

ADMINISTRATION

  • Target Species: Use only in broiler chickens (meat chickens).
  • Mixing:
    • Thoroughly mix the Nicarbazin premix into the complete feed to ensure even distribution.
    • Often, it’s recommended to first blend the required amount of premix with a small portion (e.g., 4-5 kg) of ground cereal before adding to the total ton of feed.
  • Dosage: Varies by product, but common rates are 0.01% to 0.02% in the finished feed (e.g., 125g to 500g per tonne).
  • Feeding:
    • Provide the medicated feed as the sole ration.
    • Feed continuously from placement (starter feed) up to market weight or a specified age (e.g., 14-28 days).
  • Withdrawal: Remove medicated feed at least 1-2 days before slaughter for human consumption.
