Ornidazole is an antibiotic used in cattle, horses, sheep, and goats for mixed bacterial and protozoal gastrointestinal infections.

INDICATIONS

• Gastrointestinal Infections: Treatment of severe diarrhea, dysentery, and scours.
• Mixed Infections: It is used against both aerobic (Ofloxacin) and anaerobic (Ornidazole) bacteria, as well as protozoal infections.
• Reproductive Tract Infections: Treatment of metritis (uterine infection) and other gynecological infections.
• Other Infections: Respiratory infections (pneumonia), urinary tract infections (UTI), and skin/wound infections.
• Post-operative Care: Used for controlling infections after surgical procedures.

ADMINISTRATION

• in Dogs
  • Method: Subcutaneously (under the skin) or intramuscularly (into the muscle).
  • Dosage: Generally 1 ml of a 5% solution (50 mg/ml) per 10 kg of body weight (5 mg/kg).
  • Frequency: Once a day for 3–5 days.
  • Site: Usually administered around the shoulder blade area where skin is loose. 
  in Cattle 
  • Method: Intravenous (I.V.) route, often after reconstitution.
  • Dosage: 5 mg/kg body weight for cattle; 6 mg/kg for buffalo.
  • Frequency: Repeat within 96 hours in severe cases if needed.
