Bacitracin (component)

Neomycin Sulfate & Bacitracin Zinc ointment is used for superficial bacterial infections of the eye in dogs and cats, or in minor wounds.

Treating eye and eyelid infections: This includes conditions like conjunctivitis (inflammation of the eyelid) and blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelid) caused by susceptible bacteria.
Providing broad-spectrum antibacterial action: The combination of neomycin sulfate, bacitracin zinc, and polymyxin B works against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria that commonly cause these infections.
Preventing superficial infections: It is applied to help prevent infections in superficial cuts and scrapes on the skin, as well as in the eyes.

Preparation: Wash your hands thoroughly. Gently clean debris or crusts from the affected eye area with a damp cloth, following vet instructions.
Position: Have your pet sit or lie down. You can stand behind them for better control.
Application:
- Gently tip the head up.
- Use your non-dominant hand to pull down the lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
- With your dominant hand, squeeze a small strip (about 1/2 inch) of ointment into the pocket, avoiding touching the eye with the tube.
- Release the lower lid and gently hold the eye closed for a moment so the blinking spreads the ointment.
Frequency: Apply as directed by your veterinarian, often three to four times daily for 7-10 days.
