Vaxsafe ILT Vaccine

Bioproperties' Vaxsafe ILT vaccine is used to prevent infectious laryngotracheitis (ILT), a highly contagious respiratory disease in chickens. A WVA Veterinary Medicine.

Bioproperties’ Vaxsafe ILT vaccine is indicated for prevention of infectious laryngotracheitis (ILT) disease in chickens.

INDICATIONS

  • To protect chickens against clinical signs and tracheal pathology caused by virulent field strains of ILT virus.
  • As an aid in limiting the spread of an ILT outbreak in a region, though only uninfected birds can be protected in such cases.
  • In commercial poultry operations where there is a history or a persistent risk of ILT infection.
The vaccine is typically administered via eye-drop to chickens when they are a few weeks of age (e.g., 4 weeks or as early as 10 days, depending on specific program requirements).

FEATURES

  • Prevents respiratory disease: The primary purpose is to protect chickens from ILT, which can cause symptoms like gasping, bloody discharge, and decreased productivity.
  • Uses an attenuated virus: Contains a modified strain of the ILT virus that is less harmful, but stimulates an immune response.

ADMINISTRATION

  • Eye Drop: A full drop is given into the open eye, ensuring proper absorption.
  • Drinking Water: Birds are deprived of water for a short period, then given medicated water containing the vaccine (often with skim milk powder as a stabilizer).
  • Spray: Can be used for mass vaccination, delivering the vaccine via fine mist.
  • Subcutaneous Injection: A 0.2 mL dose is injected under the skin, usually in the neck, for individual birds, often at one day old.
  • In Ovo: Administered directly into the egg during incubation.
