INDICATIONS

• Feline Tritrichomonas foetus infection: This parasite causes chronic, foul-smelling diarrhea in cats. Ronidazole is considered the most effective treatment for eradicating this infection.
• Giardia infections: It has been used as an alternative treatment for Giardia in dogs and cats when primary medications are unsuccessful.
• Avian trichomoniasis: The soluble powder is commonly added to the drinking water of pet birds and pigeons for the treatment of Trichomonas species.
• Swine dysentery and histomoniasis: used in some countries for these conditions in certain farmed animals. 

ADMINISTRATION

Birds

• Drinking Water: The powder is typically mixed into the bird’s drinking water.
• Fresh Solutions: Prepare fresh medicated water daily, and it is generally recommended to use it within 24 hours of mixing.
• Exclusive Water Source: To ensure the birds consume the medicated water, no other drinking water should be available during the treatment period.
• Feed Mixing: Some formulations may also be mixed into the birds’ feed.
• Post-Treatment Care: Providing multivitamins the day after the final dose is sometimes recommended to support recovery. 

Cats and Dogs

• Compounding: Due to its bitter taste, the powder is usually compounded into capsules by a pharmacy to prevent rejection or excessive salivation.
• Capsule Administration: Administer the capsule whole; opening or crushing it is generally not recommended.
• Food: Giving the capsule with food may help reduce the risk of stomach upset.
